GBM (Guided Boring Machine)
GBMs are used in conjunction with a theodolite/lazor guidance system to provide accurate line and elevation (25mm+/-) on pipe being installed. Set on line and grade the lazor is followed/drilled across by hollow pilot tubes. Once across a casing pipe is pushed behind the pilot tube until completely through. The GBM is also used with a Case Boring Machine to push through the casing pipe while cleanimg out the spoils, to aliow access for the final carrier pipe.
Main applications include:
- Installing steel sleeves into which utilities with critical elevations and alignments are necessary can be placed (i.e. sewer, water, gas, electrical, etc.)
This trenchless method can be used to install steel casings 300mm to 2400mm in diameter and over distances of up to 150m in length with alignments and elevations within 25mm+/-.
